The Categories

The Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year

The grand titleScottish Landscape Photographer of the Year” shall be awarded to the photographer, that in the opinion of the judges has submitted the best portfolio of three images either from a single category or a combination of all three main categories.

Landscape Award

The Landscape award will be given to the single image which, in the opinion of the judges panel, is the best in this category. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over to be eligible.

Seascape Award

The Seascape award will be given to the single image, which in the opinion of the judging panel is the best in this category. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over at the closing date.

Urban Award

The Urban award will be given to the single image, which in the opinion of the judging panel is the best in this category. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over at the closing date.

4 Seasons Award

The 4 seasons award will be given to the single image for each season, which in the opinion of the judging panel is the best in this category. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over at the closing date.

Monochrome Award

The Monochrome award will be given to the single image, which in the opinion of the judging panel is the best in this category. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over at the closing date.

The Weather Award

The Weather award will be given to the single image, which in the opinion of the judging panel is the best in this category. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over at the closing date.

The Fragile Planet Award

The Fragile Planet Award is a special award reflecting the image that best reflects the fragile nature of the Scottish landscape. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over at the closing date.

The John Muir Awards

The John Muir Awards are a set of 10 special awards that reflect characteristics of properties owned by the John Muir Trust. These awards are judged by the John Muir Trust. Entrants must be 18 years of age and over at the closing date.
